GO-Ahead Given For Flats On Site Of Old Govanhill Drill Hall

22 January, 2021 | Residential

PLANNERS have approved 24 flats for social rent on a gap site in Govanhill.

The five-storey block will be built in Butterbiggins Road by Govanhill Housing Association.

The site used to be occupied by the Lanarkshire Volunteer Artillery drill hall building, which was more recently used as a warehouse before demolition.

The flats — a mixture of one, two and three-bedroom units — will be between a C-listed Victorian tenement and the former Larkfield bus garage site where a development of 186 flats and houses is well advanced.

Govanhill Housing Association are awaiting permission for a 121-unit residential complex on Butterbiggins Road at Victoria Road.
