A STUDENT accommodation developer has shared latest designs for a major complex proposed for Charing Cross.

Vita Group hope to submit a planning application for a site at 20 India Street in December.

As well as a large student residential complex, there would be a block containing one and two-bed affordable flats, facing Elmbank Crescent.

Vita state: “The proposals comprise of a family of buildings – each element responds to the context around the site.

 “Vita Student already has one site in operation in Glasgow in the West End and it’s hoped this site will help to meet Glasgow’s ever-increasing demand for quality student accommodation and help to alleviate supply and demand pressures felt across Glasgow’s rental market.”

The proposal comes as major student developments are mooted for two other Charing Cross locations — at Elmbank Gardens and neighbouring Portcullis House — along with numerous other sites across the city centre.
