DISCOUNT Supermarket Chain Apply To Build New Glasgow Store

5 November, 2021 | Retail

LIDL is continuing its investment and expansion in Glasgow with a plan for a new store in the city’s East End.

The discount grocery chain has applied for planning permission to develop an outlet at a site on the corner of Springfield Road at Dalmarnock Road.

The company bought the land in Dalmarnock from Glasgow City Council last year in a £1million deal.

The store would have a sales floor area of 1,255 square metres. A car park with around 100 spaces would be provided.

The application is pending assessment by city planners.

Lidl has also recently applied for permission to replace its store in Govan.

The company has already opened additional stores in Finnieston and Robroyston and plans to expand its shops in Maryhill Road and Jamaica Street in the City Centre.
