STUDENT housing is now being proposed for a West End site that was approved for flats despite hundreds of objections.

A proposal of application notice for purpose-built student accommodation at land to the east of 63 to 77 Otago Street has been submitted to Glasgow City Council by Danehurst Developments Ltd.

No further details have been given. Public consultation on the plans has to take place before a planning application can be lodged.

Permission is already in place for 49 flats on the site which is beside the River Kelvin at Otago Lane.

More than 750 objections were made over that plan which was approved on appeal last year.
