TAKEAWAY Proposal For Historic Bank Premises In Springburn Is Refused

11 March, 2021 | Food and Drink, Listed / Historic Buildings

PLANNERS have rejected a plan to turn part of a B-listed bank building in Springburn into a hot-food takeaway.

The change-of-use application was made by Sava Estates for the ground floor and basement of the TSB premises at 247 Springburn Way. The bank branch is closing in June 2021.

Glasgow City Council has refused permission.

In their decision notice, planning officials said that, as a proposed flue would be visible from a public elevation, it would have a negative impact on the “visual amenity and architectural character of this category B listed property”.

They also felt the change of use would have a detrimental effect for those living in the building.
