REVISED Plans Submitted For Major Residential Development In Royston

23 July, 2021 | Residential

A NEW neighbourhood is being proposed for a brownfield site in the Royston area of Glasgow.

Swan Group has applied to build 136 houses and flats for mid-market rent on land bounded by Darnick Street, Royston Road and the adjacent railway.

Permission was previously granted for 100 houses at the site.

The new proposal is for 86 two and three-bed terraced and semi-detached houses and 50 two-bed flats.

A design document included with the application states: “The development comprises a range of heights to respond to the surrounding context.

“Four-storey flats are positioned facing Darnick Street and Royston Road, to address the street.

“As the development turns the corner on to Darnick Street, the perimeter blocks reduce to two storey in height to respond to the housing opposite the site.

“The development has a range of house and flat types to suit a variety of different residents and their needs.”

The application is pending consideration by city planners.
