RESIDENTIAL Plan For Old East End Cinema Location

6 August, 2019 | News, Residential

FLATS are being proposed for the site of a former 1920s cinema in Dennistoun.

McKernan Homes Ltd have applied to build 24 two-bedroom apartments on vacant land at Meadowpark Street/Marne Street, near Alexandra Parade. The Parade Cinema opened there in 1921.

There would be two four-storey blocks, one on each side of the site, with parking and landscaping in between.

Each flat would have cycle storage and 14 car parking spaces would be provided.

A document submitted with the application states: “The proposed development would contribute towards the creation of a vibrant and accessible residential neighbourhood. The proposal would see the development of a vacant plot which is in poor condition.”

The proposal is pending assessment by Glasgow City planners.
