PROPOSED 17-Floor Office Block Would Mean Loss Of Glasgow City Mission Building

16 June, 2021 | Office

A MAJOR office development is being proposed for a site near the Broomielaw, part of which is occupied by Glasgow City Mission’s headquarters.

Phase two of Carrick Square would be on a third of a city block on land bounded by Brown Street, Crimea Street and Carrick Street.

It would be behind the 14-storey phase one building for which developer Soller Group has secured planning permission subject to legal agreements.

This visualisation shows phase one of Carrick Square. Phase two would be behind it on the rest of the block.
Glasgow City Mission’s building is on a corner of the site.

Pre-application consultation is starting for phase two. Online documents make no mention of what plans would be in place for relocating the City Mission and existing businesses on the site.

A statement on the consultation website simply asserts: “Carrick Square phase two will boast bright and contemporary workspace with spectacular views, that will help attract and retain the best talent.”

The consultation website can be viewed here.
