A PLASTIC recycling facility is being proposed for vacant land at Cardonald Business Park.
The plant at Site 1, Fifty Pitches Road, Glasgow would operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, employing 56 people.
When fully operational, the plant will receive up to six lorry-loads of plastic waste bales per day.
A statement submitted to planners explains: “The building is designed around a state-of-the-art production process for the recycling of waste plastics. The process generates almost no emissions.”
It continues: “The proposals will make a positive contribution to the immediate area. The site is appropriate for the proposed use which will provide an exemplary facility of this type which will make a valuable contribution to the options available to improve recycling and reduce plastic waste going to landfill.”
The application by Vinanian Developments Ltd is pending assessment by Glasgow City planners.
