A MIXED use development featuring an 11-storey aparthotel is being proposed for a site on Glasgow’s Trongate.

Pre-application consultation is taking place over demolishing the buildings at 178-186 Trongate/11 Hutcheson Street and replacing them with a 157-bedroom aparthotel plus a pub and two other food and drink outlets at ground floor level.

The hotel’s reception, restaurant and bar areas would be at sixth floor level along with a roof terrace.

The development is being proposed by owners Caledon Property Group and has been drawn up by Mosaic Architecture and Design.

The buildings currently house the Oriental Bar and three shop units while the upper floors, which used to be a bank, have been empty for some years.
