PERMISSION has been given for a vacant building in Hillington to be used as a motorbike showroom, leading to the creation of 16 jobs.

The premises at 434 Hillington Road, Glasgow will house a new Triumph dealer for the city following closure of the previous one.

City planners approved an application for the building to be used for the sale, display and maintenance of motorcycles.

A supporting statement submitted to the city council explained: “The applicant already operates the West Coast Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealership at Mossland Drive in Hillington Park. This existing business currently provides 32 jobs and contributes positively to economic activity in the area.

“The proposal for the unit at 434 Hillington Road is that it will be used to establish a new, separate motorcycle dealership specialising in the sale and maintenance of Triumph motorcycles.

“This operation will initially result in the creation of around 13 new jobs plus three additional jobs at the Mossland Drive headquarters, taking the current total of 32 jobs up to 48 jobs across the two Hillington sites.

“As the new business becomes established it is proposed that further job opportunities will be created.”
