PLANNERS To Decide If Vacant South Side Office Is Fit For Use As Gym

A PLAN has been submitted to turn empty offices on Glasgow’s South Side into a fitness facility.

The application involves two-storey premises at 47 Haggs Road, Shawlands, beside Pollok Park. The building was formerly the office for Dollar Rae Shopfitters, who have ceased trading.

Under the plan, the ground floor would have the main gym area and changing facilities plus a reception area, staff kitchen and accessible toilet.

Upstairs there would be a warm-up studio, small treatment rooms, changing and toilet facilities and offices.

A statement submitted with the application indicates the gym — which would be known as Club 300 — would be open from 6am to 10pm, Monday to Sunday. There would be a maximum membership of 300 people.

The statement continues: “The applicant has been a fitness operator in the Glasgow area for five years and currently operates from a gym in Paisley.”

The proposal is pending assessment by city planners.
