PLANNERS Asked To Approve Apartments And Commercial Units Complex At Central Glasgow Site

10 December, 2020 | News

A RESIDENTIAL-led mixed-use development is being proposed for a large vacant site in Cowcaddens

Qdos Glasgow Ltd have applied for planning permission in principle to develop the old DC Thomson site at 144 Port Dundas Road, opposite Cowcaddens fire station.

As well as apartments on upper floors, there would be commercial units at ground floor level including shops, food and drink outlets and a gym.

A document submitted to Glasgow City Council states: “The overall scale/massing of the development, number of units has yet to be determined.”

A proposal by the same developer for a massive student accommodation complex at the site was rejected on appeal because it was felt it would lead to an over-concentration of such premises in the Townhead/Cowcaddens area.
