DETAILED plans for hundreds of flats and nearly 1,000 student rooms at Anderston have been submitted for approval.
Summix Capital is proposing 410 apartments for sale and a 934-capacity student complex at its Central Quay site, between Warroch Street and Hydepark Street.
The site has lain derelict for over half a century. Land to the east, beside the M8 motorway is the subject of proposals for around 670 flats for rent.

There would also be ground level commercial units including food /drink and retail uses, plus landscaping and public realm.
If the proposals are approved by Glasgow planners, it is anticipated that work would begin on site with Plot A — the student element at the north end — in early 2024.

A design document included with the application states: “The development site provides an exciting opportunity to remaster a prominent and strategic part of Glasgow city centre.
“The proposed urban strategy for Central Quay draws on the site’s unique history and context to create a new truly mixed-use neighbourhood for living, learning and working within the context of a former industrial setting.”
