NEW Bid To Open Cafe At Queen’s Park

9 January, 2019 | News

ANOTHER attempt is being made to open a cafe in the disused half of a toilet block at Queen’s Park.

A new application for the building at 1001 Pollokshaws Road, near Langside Hall, has been submitted to Glasgow City Council.

It features an inside seating area for around eight people and a takeaway servery window. Timber cladding would be applied to the whole building.

A previous cafe plan was rejected by officials for various reasons including no method for dispersing cooking fumes; proposed roller shutters “detracting from the streetscene”; and inadequate and unsightly waste and recycling storage.

However feedback from the planning department following discussions with the applicant prior to the latest proposal being submitted states that the majority of reasons for refusal have been addressed in the new plan.

Formal consideration of the application by officials will now take place.
