NEW Application For Flats At Dennistoun Site

27 January, 2022 | Residential

ANOTHER attempt is being made to secure permission for apartments on vacant ground in Dennistoun.

Scotia Capital Partners has applied to build 36 flats on land between Birkenshaw Street and Cumbernauld Road.

A previous proposal by a different applicant for 46 flats in one block was rejected by the city council.

The new plan features two buildings, the larger one, containing 28 units, would front Cumbernauld Road. A block with eight units would be down Birkenshaw Street.

Most of the flats would have two bedrooms.

Scotia Capital Partners state: “The proposed development will complement and contribute to the local area providing additional high-quality apartments that meet demand.”

The proposal is pending assessment by council officials.

Planners gave various reasons for refusal for the earlier application, including that the density and scale of the block, combined with lack of open space, would result in overdevelopment.
