NEW App From McGill’s Buses Gives Live Countdown To Bus Arrival

5 October, 2018 | News

MCGILL’S Buses are launching a new mobile app with a range of extra features — including real-time updates on when buses are going to arrive.

The free app will be available from Monday (8 October).

Passengers will be able to buy tickets, get a live countdown of when their bus will arrive, plan a journey, find nearby stops and view timetables, all in a mobile-friendly format.

Customers will also be able to save their favourite items such as timetables and regular journeys as well as keep up-to-date with disruption information.

Current customers will be able to transfer all purchased m-tickets over to the app by creating a new account with the same email address as they used on the current app, and then verifying the email received.

From 10pm on Wednesday 10 October, all m-tickets must be accessed via the new app.

Ralph Roberts, McGill’s managing director, said: “We are committed to continuously adding value to our services and when our new, free app is launched, it will make travelling by bus even easier.

“We’re very excited about our real-time feature. It is a great enhancement -– knowing exactly when your bus will be arriving at the stop.

“M-ticketing has been a convenient solution for anyone using the bus and we’re certain that the new app will be an ever greater success.”

He added: “These new ticketing and technology options have resulted in less time spent at bus stops and customers no longer needing to carry change or a paper ticket, improving the overall bus experience.”
