A NEW development of two hotels beside the SSE Hydro in Glasgow looks set to feature Marriott International brands.

The development will have a total of around 450 bedrooms and will screen the multi-storey car park between Stobcross Road and Finnieston Street.

Work has just started at the site.

Drawings submitted to planners by Keppie Design show a four-star Courtyard by Marriott with 216 bedrooms and a three-star Moxy hotel with 238 bedrooms.

The Moxy hotel will have several food and beverage outlets at ground floor level, fronting Finnieston Street.

Planning permission was given two years ago. There have been some design changes and a slight increase in room numbers to reflect the hotel operators’ requirements.

The development comes as the SEC (Scottish Events Campus) looks to expand.
