MORE Than 200 Flats And Townhouses To Be Built At East Pollokshields Site

21 February, 2019 | News, Residential

A MAJOR residential development is set to get the go ahead on Glasgow’s Southside.

Glasgow planners are backing an application for 206 properties on former industrial land at Maxwell Road, beside the railway line, in east Pollokshields.

The proposal by New City Vision Ltd also includes a shop and a community hub, and is to be known as The Foundry.

The City Council has resolved to approve the development subject to conditions and a legal agreement being finalised.

There will be 196 flats in four blocks ranging from four to six storeys, plus 10 townhouses.

How the development is expected to look along Maxwell Road

A pedestrian/cycle route has been included through the site with the aim that this will link to the West Street  cycle route to the north via a currently non-public footbridge over the railway, and also to the south  through more land awaiting development, connecting to Pollokshields East Rail Station.

A total of 147 vehicle parking spaces will  be provided across parking courts, undercroft parking and private garages. There will also be cycle parking and storage for every property throughout the site.
