MORE Than 100 Homes Approved For East Glasgow Site

11 April, 2019 | News

MERCHANT Homes has been given permission for a development of 106 houses in eastern Glasgow.

They will be on vacant land bounded By Stepford Road, Wellhouse Road and Wardie Road, just north of Edinburgh Road, next to Stepford Sports Park.

Glasgow City planners approved the application although the number of houses has been reduced from the original proposed total of 132.

The revised layout leaves most of the grassed area south of Stepford Road intact with just five houses and a children’s play park being developed one the west side of that land.

The site previously contained 250 flats in three-storey buildings.

Merchant say the development — to be known as Lochwood Gardens — will be made up of two, three and four-bedroom detached, semi-detached and terraced homes creating a “landmark community” for the area.

Linda McLuskie, sales and marketing director, said: “This is an exciting milestone for what will be a truly unique development for Glasgow East.

“Stepford Road is a prime location within the city and we look forward to creating a brand new community there.”

Work is due to start this month with the first phase of homes expected to be released in May 2019.
