MIXED-Use Transformation Planned For Shawfield Stadium Site

20 October, 2023 | Major Developments

PUBLIC consultation is to take place over a proposed major redevelopment of Shawfield Stadium.

Shawfield Regeneration Ltd intends to apply for planning permission in principle for a mixed-use scheme, including residential, hotel and commercial space.

The developer states on the project website: “This mixed-use neighbourhood continues the regeneration of the area, delivering much-needed new homes and commercial uses, breathing new life into the area.

“Modern sustainable high-quality housing will use the latest low carbon and net-zero technology. For example, the nearby Dalmarnock District Heating system is available to the Shawfield site via the connections within the ‘Smart Bridge’ – the pedestrian and cycle bridge over the Clyde.

“In addition, proposed hotel and ancillary commercial uses will complement Glasgow’s newest business district, Magenta Business Park, with the overall site extremely well-served by transport and leisure links.

“This proposed highly-sustainable development will, if consented, deliver considerable investment and employment opportunities for the Shawfield area.

A public consultation event outlining the proposals will be held on Thursday 2 November between 2 and 7pm at Red Tree Magenta, 270 Glasgow Road, Rutherglen G73 1SA.
