PLANNERS are being asked to approve a large mixed-use development in Glasgow’s Broomielaw area.
IFSD West Developments Ltd are proposing Grade A office space plus a hotel, bars and restaurants between Washington Street and McAlpine Street.
The development of around 550,000 square feet would be more than 300 feet high with up to 25 floors.

The site is currently occupied by a salvage recycling business, with buildings of one and two floors.
A statement submitted to Glasgow City Council explains: “The design concept is to introduce a significant and prestige mixed-use building into Glasgow’s streetscape.
“The granting of permission for this application will allow for the development of strategically important brownfield land which is currently under-utilised.”
To meet council policy, a through route linking Washington Street and McAlpine Street would be included. There would be two levels of underground parking.
The applicant is seeking permission for the principle of the development at this stage. If consent is given, further detailed plans would need to be brought forward for approval.
