BELLWAY Homes have applied to build nearly 250 houses and flats on a brownfield site beside the Clyde at Braehead.
The development is proposed for land between the Soar Intu leisure complex and Clyde View Park, at King’s Inch Road, Renfrew.
There would be 142 houses (a mixture of townhouses and detached and semi-detached properties) and 106 flats, in four-storey blocks. There would be 483 car parking spaces.
The 5.6-hectare site was formerly occupied by Braehead Power Station.
A design statement included with the planning application explains: “A high quality environment is envisaged, with well-designed modern homes, set around attractive and welcoming streets and public spaces.”
The proposal is pending assessment by Renfrewshire Council.
