RESTAURANT operators La Vita plan to open a new eatery in Baillieston.

An application has been made to use premises at 175 Baillieston Road as a restaurant, with in-house bakery and hot-food take-away, function suite, roof terrace and external seating.

The space was formerly part of a large Co-op store but permission was recently given to sub-divide it.

The whole operation is expected to employ around 26 full-time staff and 18 part-time staff.

A supporting statement submitted with the application explains: “The design theme is ‘outdoors inside’ (Mediterranean style creating a romantic and family-themed destination).”

The proposal is pending assessment by Glasgow city planners.
