COIA’S have applied to open a landmark new restaurant at a major development currently being built in Dennistoun.

The family-run Italian eatery is hoping to use commercial space at a massive flats development on the corner of Duke Street and Bellgrove Street.

Their planning application seeks permission for a restaurant, bar and takeaway, including outdoor seating, and a delicatessen.

Drawings show the venue would be over two levels, with indoor seating for around 100 people.

Coia’s, who are currently based further along Duke Street, also want to put up a statue, although no further details are given in planning documents.

The proposal is pending consideration by Glasgow City planners.

The development on Duke Street at Bellgrove Street is for Home Group and will have around 250 flats for mid-market rent.
