HOUSES And Flats Approved For Arden Site

3 January, 2019 | News, Residential

A DEVELOPMENT of nearly 50 houses and flats for social rent have been approved for the Arden area of southern Glasgow.

The properties will be built by AS Homes Scotland Ltd in conjunction with Glen Oaks Housing Association on a site behind the games court on Kilmuir Drive/Kilmuir Crescent, north of Thornliebank Industrial Estate.

Forty-five houses and four cottage flats will be provided. There will be 12 three-bedroom semi-detached homes, 21 two-bedroom terraced properties and 12 three-bedroom terraced houses. There will be 52 car parking spaces.

A submission by consultants Iceni Projects Ltd on behalf of the applicant stated: “The proposal will create a welcoming and attractive residential area with well-integrated and useable open space and landscaping areas.”

Glasgow City planners granted permission. Their report stated: “The proposal is well-considered and there is a clear intent to establish character and a varied sense of place.

“Considerable analysis has produced a response that works within the constraints of the site and avoids conflict with adjacent land uses, while creating distinctive areas within the development, with consideration to outlooks and relationships to the city.
