HOUSING is being proposed for a football ground in Glasgow’s East End.

Cruden Homes have started pre-application consultation over a plan to develop Shettleston Juniors FC’s base on Old Shettleston Road.

Details posted online states: “Shettleston Juniors FC / Glasgow United are currently seeking to obtain a long lease of Greenfield Football Centre which is located approximately 0.5 miles to the north-west of the site.

“There are proposals to invest significantly in the Greenfield Football Centre to provide a much-improved facility which can meet the needs of the community.

“As a result of the Shettleston Juniors move to Greenfield, Cruden Homes (West) Ltd have a legal agreement to develop the site to deliver affordable housing.”

The proposed masterplan shows seven blocks ranging from four to six storeys.

Further documentation explains: “A key driver for the development of the site is the creation of generous open spaces, framed within the proposal, for residents to enjoy.

“The creation of these large courtyards are similar to the existing arrangement of tenements in the local area; all of which have central courtyards with green spaces.”
