HOTEL Operator Finalises Designs For City Centre Development

16 January, 2020 | Hotels

PLANS for a new hotel in Glasgow City Centre have been submitted to planners.

Bloc Hotels plan to demolish Dale House in West George Street — near Queen Street Station and George Square — and build an eight-storey 276-room development.

How the hotel is expected to look

The company hope to start a 32-week demolition programme in February following by a 100-week construction period.

Planning permission has previously been granted for a 160-bed hotel at the site. Bloc is now seeking consent for its own design.

A statement submitted to the council explains: “The external appearance of a Bloc hotel is critical as it is the first impression of Bloc’s unique brand identity.

“Beautiful design, efficiency and high quality finish materials are the core essence of any Bloc hotel project and the result is a quality product and a consistency of finish throughout all Bloc hotels.”
