GO-Ahead Given For McDonald’s Drive-Thru In Glasgow Superstore Car Park

8 July, 2019 | News, Food and Drink

PERMISSION has been given for a new McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant in the Easterhouse area of Glasgow.

The two-storey building will be on part of the car park at the Morrison’s superstore in Auchinlea Way, near the Fort shopping centre.

How the building will look

The restaurant, which will provide around 65 jobs, will have seating for 180 people. It will also have a patio and an outdoor play area. There will be car parking for 36 vehicles.

Planning consent was given by Glasgow City Council officials.

A document submitted with the application had stated: “After a review of the current building stock, some parts of the existing car park were considered excess to Morrisons’ requirements and underused. There is consequently an opportunity to introduce a complementary use that would support the overall retail function and enhance the range of facilities available to customers.

“The site represents an appropriate location for a drive-thru restaurant, which will be well placed to offer refreshments to passing customers and those in the surrounding area.

“[McDonald’s] has recently been undertaking a thorough review of its portfolio of restaurants and is seeking to increase its representation in certain key locations.
