GO-Ahead Given For Community Pavilion And Cafe At City Park

How the facility is expected to look

PROPOSALS to develop a community facility and an allotment area in a Glasgow South Side park have been approved by city planners.

The application involves a redundant council depot area in the south east corner of Maxwell Park, Pollokshields. There will also be landscaping and parking.

There will be a multi-use area, cafe/events space and toilet facilities.

A community allotment area will be provided. An entrance to the park that had been closed will be re-opened.

The project has been brought forward by Friends of Maxwell Park and Pollokshields Burgh Hall Trust.

How the facility would look

A statement submitted to Glasgow planners explained: “The aim of this project is to provide a flexible building which will accommodate a small office space for Friends of Maxwell Park and a flexible space for small meetings, a focal point for the park, a cafe, activity space, an information point to other services, a room for training, learning and leisure classes and one-off events.”
