GO-Ahead Given For Backpackers’ Hostel At Historic Glasgow City Centre Building

18 June, 2021 | Hotels, Listed / Historic Buildings

PLANNERS have agreed that empty upper floors at B-listed premises in central Glasgow can be turned into a backpackers’ hostel.

Metro Inns Ltd applied to convert the first, second and third storeys at Virginia House, at the corner of Virginia Street and Wilson Street in the Merchant City.

City officials have now approved the proposal.

The upper floors have been unused for 18 months, having previously been offices.

The ground floor and basement accommodate three bars and a nightclub.

An open area housing reception, lounge and kitchen will be created on the first floor.

There will be 30 bedrooms/dormitories.
