PLANNING permission has been given for a new care home with public open space in Anniesland.

Glasgow’s planning applications committee agreed that Morrison Community Care can build the 58-bed facility on disused land beside Yarrow Recreational Club on Anniesland Road.

It will be ‘L’ shaped with a four-storey principal elevation and a three-storey rear section along the eastern part of the site.

Amenity space for residents will include a visitor café, champagne bar, hair salon, celebration room, sensory room and cinema room.

A publicly accessible community garden will be positioned between the front of the building and Anniesland Road. To the rear, a private residents’ garden will contain a patio area, putting green, seating and a variety of planting and landscaping.

A design statement submitted with the application argued: “The site would lend itself to a sensitively designed four-storey building, and this is given added importance with the significant amount of land given over to the public park.”
