PLANNERS have agreed central Glasgow premises can be split to create two hot food takeaways.
The unit at 119 Great Western Road, near St George’s Cross, is currently occupied by Oriental eatery Lemon Tree.
The city council has given permission for sub-division, with Lemon Tree taking a smaller space and Glasgow’s first Chilli Flames chicken outlet being based in the rest.
A report by planning officials stated: “The existing hot food takeaway is spread across two units, with half of the unit being used as storage meaning that the roller shutters are permanently shut over half of the unit.
“The proposal would contribute positively to the character and appearance of the town centre by bringing this area of frontage back into active use.”
(Initial drawings submitted to the council showed signage indicating German Doner Kebab would occupy the second unit but revised documents were later submitted with a change of operator.)
