GLASGOW City Council has confirmed the full list of road closures in the city centre for the filming of a car chase for a Fast and Furious spin-off movie. A low-flying helicopter is to be used by the production crew.
Scenes for Hobbs and Shaw, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba and Vanessa Kirkby, are being shot over the next six days by the movie’s second unit. The Rock is not expected to be in the city.
Letters sent to residents in the area state that the production crew will have “tight control” of the area “to safely facilitate” the filming which will include a small amount of gunfire through “careful use of prop and replica firearms”.
The letter continues: “Police will be in attendance throughout to help us ensure that this does not cause alarm.”
The movement of pedestrians will be managed and there will be “rigorous stewarding”.
A low-flying helicopter will be used on Saturday (27 October). The crew state: “The helicopter will only fly low when it is directly required and will other wise maintain a much higher altitude, especially when above built-up areas.”
