FOUR-Star Hotel Proposed For Empty Glasgow Office Block

25 June, 2019 | News, Hotels, Office

PLANS to convert a disused 12-storey office block in Glasgow City Centre into a four-star hotel have been submitted for planning approval.

The proposal is to turn Pegasus House at the corner of West George Street and Holland Street into a Sandman Signature hotel with 179 bedrooms.

How the development is expected to look

Sandman Hotel Group opened their first location in Canada 50 years ago and have grown to become an international company with more than 50 locations globally.

The project, by Northland Properties, would include a first floor extension. There would be a bar/restaurant and gym.

A statement submitted to Glasgow planners explains: “The development will continue the regeneration of this part of Glasgow’s Central Business District by creating an active frontage and promoting further pedestrian footfall around Holland Street and West George Street.

“The proposals have been designed to make best use of the existing structure whilst complementing the character of the surrounding area.”

A previous application to use the building for student accommodation was withdrawn.
