FLATS Development Proposed For Empty Shopping Arcade

29 January, 2022 | Residential

GLASGOW Housing Association is proposing to knock down a vacant Southside shopping centre and build more than 60 flats.

Shawbridge Arcade in Pollokshaws is to be sold by Glasgow City Council.

A report updating councillors regarding the sale states: “The property comprises a former neighbourhood retail shopping centre which was declared surplus to requirements on 28 May 2021 and is currently lying unoccupied with the exception of one remaining tenancy (William Hill Organisation Limited) located on the upper level of the centre at 15 Shawbridge Street.

“Glasgow Housing Association are looking to bring forward a residential scheme to create 70 flatted units for mid-market rent (four of which will be fitted out as Wheatley Group office space).”
