EMPTY Car Showroom To Be Turned Into Arnold Clark Electric Vehicle Centre

17 August, 2020 | News

ARNOLD Clark has scrapped plans to build a new car showroom in west Glasgow and instead will turn empty premises into an electric vehicle outlet.

The company applied in January 2019 to develop a Vauxhall dealership on the site of a previous Honda showroom beside South Street.

But that application was withdrawn and a new proposal to alter the existing building and make it into an ‘Arnold Clark Innovation Centre’ was submitted instead.

The application states the showroom will be for the “presentation and sale of new and used electrically-powered vehicles”.

A design statement explained: “The building will have a contemporary look and feel. The provision of dark cladding, feature glazing and striking roof lines will give the building a quality feel.”

Planning permission has now been given by Glasgow City Council for the changes at the site which is bounded by Harmsworth Street and Byron Street.

Electric vehicle company Tesla plan to open a showroom at Townhead in central Glasgow.
