PLANS to change the Pizza Hut restaurant in Govan into a Starbucks drive-thru coffee shop have been lodged with Glasgow City Council.
The building at Junction 24 Retail Park, Helen Street, would also be sub-divided to create another outlet, although no operator for that is identified in the application documents.
A document submitted with the proposal states: “The drive-thru coffee shop will provide a complementary service to the existing retail park and by its very nature would not be suitable in a town centre location, given the need to be in close proximity to an arterial vehicular route whilst providing sufficient space for the drive-thru lane and associated parking.”
The application is pending assessment by planners.
Permission was given earlier this year for a drive-thru Tim Horton’s coffee shop nearby although work has not started on that.
