PLANNERS have agreed that two drive-thrus — a coffee shop and a restaurant — can be built on vacant land at Ibrox.

The development will be at Junction 24 Business Park, Helen Street, at Edmiston Drive.

The coffee shop unit will be a Tom Hortons outlet. An operator for the restaurant has not been confirmed.

Permission for a standalone drive-thru Tim Hortons had previously been given several years ago for the same site.

A supporting document submitted with the planning application in June 2021 stated: “The proposal would see the re-use of a long term vacant site and would provide facilities that would serve the surrounding businesses and employees within the area.”

It continued: “The proposed development will seek to create links to the existing footway network on Helen Street, and within the Junction 24 Business Park, in turn, offering connectivity to local bus stops / services, surrounding employment and residential areas.”

“In addition, links to the neighbouring retail offers will be established, with an appropriate level of cycle parking also provided for staff and customers.”

Thirty-nine car parking spaces would be included.
