THE first occupier for a speculative office building in Glasgow’s International Financial Services District (IFSD) has been confirmed.

Atkins Limited is taking space on two floors of Building 2 of the Atlantic Square development, between York Street and James Watt Street.

A joint venture between BAM Properties and Taylor Clark Limited, 2 Atlantic Square features 96,650 sq ft of prime, sustainably built office accommodation presented across six floors with 7,000 sq ft retail/restaurant space on the ground floor.

Atkins, a leading engineering and project management consultancy, is to lease 20,739 sq ft across the top floor and part of the floor below. The company is expected to start fitting out works in the next few weeks.

Dougie Peters, managing director of BAM Properties, said: “There continues to be a strong demand for Grade A office accommodation, in the right location and with the best facilities, and we are delighted to welcome Atkins to Atlantic Square.

“As organisations seek a hybrid approach to working patterns, having the right environment has never been more crucial especially when thinking longer term about attracting the right talent pool.

“Our development has helped to invigorate the IFSD. With more development ongoing and the improved facilities along the waterfront, it’s a vibrant part of the city in which to be located.”

Set within a landscaped public realm with seating areas, Atlantic Square also has excellent sustainability credentials.

There are 180 cycle racks, alongside 240 lockers, as well as plentiful shower facilities for cyclists and runners with complimentary towels and consumables.

Remaining space includes floor plates spanning from 15,917sq ft with a total of circa 70,000sq ft available.

Atlantic Square Building 2 follows on the successful completion of Building 1, a 10-storey Grade A office building which was fully let to HM Revenue & Customs for a minimum of 20 years and sold to Legal & General.
