STUDENT accommodation provider Alumno is undertaking consultation over its plans for a development in central Glasgow.

It is proposing to build a student block at the site of an old showroom and garage in Woodlands.

The plot at St George’s Road was cleared some time ago after permission was given in January 2019 for a six-storey building containing 65 flats. That proposal was not progressed.

A consultation website about the new plan states: “Alumno took control of the St. George’s Road site from its previous owners in the autumn of 2022 and have quickly moved forward with their design team with the initial development of proposals to accommodate one of their high quality student residential proposals serving the requirements of the students of Glasgow’s numerous higher education facilities.

Ground floor commercial units may also be included.

The company hopes to submit a planning application to Glasgow City Council later in the spring.
