PLANNING permission is being sought for a restaurant development in Glasgow’s West End.

The single storey building, with mezzanine, would be behind 147 Dumbarton Road, on the triangular site also bounded by Benalder Street and Coopers Well Street, near the junction with Byres Road.

Developer Cater Group has submitted a planning application although there are no details about what kind of restaurant it would be. Proposed opening hours are 11am to 11pm, seven days a week.

The building on the site previously was part of a restaurant fronting Dumbarton Road.

A statement included with the application explains: “This proposal reinstates the former use on this site but as a standalone unit.

“This site has lain vacant for some considerable time and this should be seen as an opportunity to encourage a well-considered design solution.”

The proposal is pending assessment by city planners.
