DESIGNS Submitted For Cell Blocks At Glasgow’s New Prison

28 June, 2023 | News

DETAILED plans for the accommodation blocks at the replacement for Glasgow’s Barlinnie Prison have been submitted for approval.

Designs for five house blocks, to accommodate around 1,200 prisoners, have been drawn up.

The new jail will be on the 22-hectare site of the former Provanmill Gasworks on Royston Road.

Permission has already been given for the land to be used for a prison.

Approval for the detailed plans is now being sought by the Scottish Prison Service.

As well as the houseblocks, there will be a central facilities building.
