A PLANNING application has been submitted for more than 100 flats on Glasgow’s South Side.

Arnold Clark hope to get proposals approved for their former garage site at 134 Nithsdale Drive, Strathbungo, with a view to a sale to a developer.

There would be 104 flats, comprising one, two and three-bedroom units set over seven floors (six from street level).

A design document submitted by architects Page Park states: “The site sits between the East Pollokshields and Strathbungo Conservation areas, both of which contain high numbers of listed buildings.

“Our design thinking seeks to ‘fill the gap’ complementing the scale and aspirations of surrounding buildings, with particular reference to the work of Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson, whose Category ‘A’ listed terrace, Moray Place faces onto the site.”

It continues: “The project seeks to establish a strong civic façade facing Nithsdale Drive. This elevation is symmetrical.”

The application is pending assessment by Glasgow City planners.
