THE owners of a Shawlands hotel have a choice to make after both the planning applications they made were approved.

Ivory Group Ltd has now has permission in principle to either expand the Ivory Hotel or turn the site into flats.

Glasgow City councillors agreed that the venue at the corner of Camphill Avenue at Langside Avenue can build a three-storey hotel extension in its car park area and turn the existing restaurant and bar into a continental-style, licensed cafe.

Detailed plans would need to be drawn up for approval if either application is to be progressed as both sought consent purely for the principle of development.
