How the facility would look

PROPOSALS to develop a community facility and an allotment area in a Glasgow South Side park have been submitted for planning approval.

It would be built on a redundant council depot area in the south east corner of Maxwell Park, Pollokshields. There would also landscaping and parking.

There would be a multi-use area, cafe/events space and toilet facilities.

A community allotment area would be provided. An entrance to the park that had been closed would be re-opened.

The project has been brought forward by Friends of Maxwell Park and Pollokshields Burgh Hall Trust.

How the facility would look

A statement submitted to Glasgow planners explained: “The aim of this project is to provide a flexible building which will accommodate a small office space for Friends of Maxwell Park and a flexible space for small meetings, a focal point for the park, a cafe, activity space, an information point to other services, a room for training, learning and leisure classes and one-off events.”

The application is pending assessment by council officials.
