2 June, 2022 | Arts, Leisure, Entertainment and Sport, Listed / Historic Buildings

THE redevelopment of Glasgow’s Citizens Theatre is to receive £1.5million from the Scottish Government.

City councillors have been informed of the boost which is coming from the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund following rising costs.

Work has been ongoing for several years to refurbish and restore the venue which is located between the Gorbals and Laurieston areas.

The B-listed building — owned by the council and leased to Citizens Theatre Ltd — is undergoing the first comprehensive redevelopment in its history, which dates back more than 140 years.
