A BUILD-to-rent development of nearly 70 flats is being proposed for a site just north of Glasgow city centre.
The 68-apartment project would be at 124 Craighall Road, near Speirs Wharf.
Existing buildings would be demolished to make way for the block containing one, two and three-bedroom flats.
A design statement included with the application explained: “Our goal for this proposal is to stimulate and support the return of life and community to a former industrial area by supporting the growing population.”
“The proposed development incorporates a public entrance reception with a café and associated external open patio area which creates new opportunities for relaxing and socialising. This provides an active frontage onto Craighall Road.”
Forty-six car parking spaces would be provided. The design document states: “It is acknowledged that this parking allocation is lower than the guidelines set out by Glasgow City Council. We believe this is justifiable given the scheme is situated in an area of high accessibility, in close proximity to the city centre, with excellent links to public transport and cycle and walking routes.
An on-site car club would be made available by the developer.
The application by Weiss Development Co Ltd is pending assessment by City Council planners.
