BELLGROVE Hotel Conversion And New-Build Plan

23 September, 2021 | Residential, Listed / Historic Buildings

PROPOSALS are being drawn up for residential development at the former Bellgrove Hotel and adjacent land in Glasgow’s East End.

Lowther Homes wanted to convert the B-listed building on Gallowgate into flats, possibly with community/commercial space.

A new block of flats plus houses would be built on the adjacent site.

Around 85 flats and houses for mid-market rent would be provided in total.

A pre-application consultation process required for larger developments under planning legislation is starting ahead of detailed proposals being submitted for approval.

The Bellgrove Hotel was built in the 1930s to provide accommodation for working men. In more recent years it became a hostel.

It’s sale as part of wider regeneration plans was agreed earlier this year.
