FORTY-eight housing association flats have been approved for a site in north Glasgow.

City planners have agreed that three blocks can be built at the corner of Ashgill Road at Colston Road, Milton. The development is being proposed by Glasgow Housing Association.

Forty of the flats will have two bedrooms and eight will have one bedroom. They are for mid-market rent.

The site is currently occupied by a housing association local office and a city property depot, both of which no longer required. It also includes an area that formerly housed a centre for the unemployed.

Planning officials stated in their decision report: “Architecturally, the buildings respond positively to the important corner location at Ashgill Road and Colston Road, providing character and interest through distinctive roofscape and generous glazing.

“The development demonstrates a distinctive identity and character which responds positively to the site constraints and the surrounding townscape context and celebrates an important local gateway.”
